Return Policy
Returns
We get very few returns, because our products rock :-)
That said, if you want to make a return, you can do so for 30 days from the date of your purchase. Due to the nature of supplements, if we receive your return after 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.
Returns must be:
- purchased within the last 30 days
- unopened
- undamaged
- in the same condition they were when shipped
- shipped securely at your expense
- accompanied by a copy of your order receipt and a brief description of why you are returning the product
Shipping address for returns
If you are eligible for a return, mail your product and a copy of your receipt to:
Functional Nutriments LLC
RETURNS
1215 S Kihei Road O-155
Kihei, HI 96753 USA
We highly recommend using a trackable shipping service, because we are not responsible if your package is lost on its way to us, and we will not issue a return if we do not receive your product.
FedEx and UPS are very fast, but more expensive than USPS.
We suggest using USPS Priority mail, because it costs the same amount to ship to Hawaii as to any location on the mainland. It is also trackable, insurable, and only takes three days to arrive in Hawaii.
Refunds
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment. The refund usually shows up in your online account immediately, but can take up to five business days, depending upon your bank's policies.
Late or missing refunds
If you haven’t received a refund five days after we notified you that you would, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, because it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.
If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us at cs(at)functionalnutriments.com so we can find out what happened!
EverPup and Nutrocept Taste Guarantee
EverPup and Nutrocept both feature a "Bottom of the Jar Taste Guarantee," so you can try it with your dog and return it to us for a full refund -- even if you buy it from another retailer, veterinarian, or online shop!
If you've tried everything you can think of to get your dog to love EverPup or Nutrocept, and you just can't think of anything else to try, it's OK to send back your jar to us for a refund -- even if it's opened!
To take advantage of this guarantee, just send an email to cs(at)functionalnutriments.com and tell us you want to take advantage of the guarantee. Also tell us where you purchased your jar of EverPup or Nutrocept, and how much you paid for it.
Then, ship your opened jar (even if it's empty!) to the shipping address for returns, and include a copy of your original receipt.
Once we receive your empty or partly empty jar, we'll issue a refund for your jar (if you bought it from us) or send you a check in the mail if you bought the jar from your veterinarian or a retailer. We will reimburse you for the full amount you paid to your veterinarian or retailer -- just make sure you send us that receipt!
For obvious reasons, we can only do this once per household :-)

Product FAQs
Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE
Getting Started with Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE
Download the Apocaps CX Instructions & FAQ here. Most of your questions will be answered on this handout, and it's easy to print out at home. You can use the same instructions for Apocaps CXE.
Apocaps CXE: the E is for Export!
The award-winning dog supplement trusted by veterinarians and dog lovers around the world, Apocaps CX, is now formulated for international distribution. Apocaps CXE (the E is for Export!) has been approved by Health Canada along with other leading regulatory agencies. If you are located in Canada, please order Apocaps CXE.

Are there any side effects with Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE?
No, not usually. Apocaps® CX is extremely safe, with fewer than 5% of dogs experiencing mild GI side effects like nausea, diarrhea, or vomiting. That’s a typical rate for any change in diet, medication, or supplement.
The most common reported side effect is loose stool, which clears up with a reduced dose and gradually increasing to a full dose over time.
In other words, Apocaps is tolerated by the vast majority of dogs right from the get go. For the very few dogs who experience stomach upset at first, it's almost always loose stools, although more rarely, it's diarrhea, vomiting, or nausea. In these cases, Apocaps is tolerated if the dose is reduced and gradually increased over time.
How long should I use Apocaps?
In general, Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE are safe to use over the long-term. Your veterinarian may tell you to use it "forever," and most veterinarians recommend using it continuously for two years, and then dropping the dosage to half or even a quarter dose for maintenance after that. Please check with your veterinarian about what's right for your dog.
How to give Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE
Apocaps® CX is best absorbed on an empty stomach, between meals. To minimize rare cases of digestive upset, it should be given with a very small amount of food, preferably less than 1-2 tablespoons. Please see the product label for dosing amounts and instructions. Note: the label dose is the recommended dose.
Tip: We like to see Apocaps® CX used at least twice a day, and the number of capsules you use with your dog is determined by how much your pup weighs.
Here is the current dosing for dogs, by weight:
5-10 pounds: 1 capsule two times daily
10.1-20 pounds: 2 capsules two times daily
20.1-40 pounds: 3 capsules in the AM and 2 capsules in the PM
40.1-60 pounds: 3 capsules two times daily
60.1 pounds and over: 3 capsules three times daily
All of the above also applies to Apocaps CXE, of course!
Apocaps CX for dogs under 5 pounds
The reason the label warns against giving Apocaps® CX to dogs under five pounds is because the vast majority of dogs weighing less than five pounds are puppies, and Apocaps® CX should not be used in puppies.
Another reason is that the total daily dose of Apocaps® CX for an adult dog weighing less than five pounds would be one Apocaps® CX capsule, split in two doses, and it is difficult to be exact in dosing without the capsule.
However, if your dog is an adult dog that weighs less than 5 pounds, and you are willing to work a little, you can give half a capsule two times daily.
To do this, open the Apocaps® CX capsule and give your dog half of the powder inside in the morning, and the other half of the powder at night. Mix the powder into a little bit of food to buffer the tummy.
You will probably not be exact in your dosing, but do as best you can to give half a capsule day and night.
All of the above also applies to Apocaps CXE, of course!
The best schedule for giving Apocaps CX
Apocaps is best given on an empty stomach, so that it doesn't "compete" with foods, supplements, or medications. Give it with just a small amount of food (1-2 tablespoons), just to buffer the stomach.
Give Apocaps® at least two hours after eating, or ideally four hours after eating.
Or, if your schedule can't work between meals, you could also give it one hour before a meal. (That way the stomach will be empty, and there will be enough time for Apocaps® CX to go to work before you introduce more food.)
There is some evidence that Apocaps® CX is best absorbed on/around the 11's -- 11am and 11pm. So, if you can, give it in late morning and just before bed time.
If this doesn't work for your schedule, it's OK to give Apocaps® CX closer to mealtime, or even with a meal. This cuts down on the bioavailability a little, but doesn't erase it.
All of the above also applies to Apocaps CXE, of course!Best time of day to give Apocaps CX
There is some evidence that giving Apocaps® CX in the late morning (10-11 AM) and/or the late evening (10-11 PM) may be most effective, but this may not be convenient for you.
If this is inconvenient for you, wait a minimum of one hour before or two hours after a meal, and give Apocaps® CX with 1-2 tablespoons of food.
All of the above also applies to Apocaps CXE, of course!
What kind of food do I give with Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE?
Giving Apocaps CX with a meal
It's true, Apocaps® CX is most effective and most easily absorbed when given between meals, on an empty stomach, with just a little food (1-2 tablespoons), as the label states. Giving Apocaps® CX with a full meal reduces the absorption of Apocaps® CX slightly.
However, if it’s difficult to give between meals, or if your dog experiences digestive upset, giving Apocaps® CX with meals is a great way to go.
All of the above also applies to Apocaps CXE, of course!
Opening Apocaps CX capsules
If you don't want to give capsules (or if your dog doesn't want to take them), you can still give Apocaps.
Just open the capsules and mix the Apocaps® CX (or Apocaps CXE) powder directly into your dog's food. The capsules are used to dose the powder, and they aren't part of its bioavailability, so opening the capsules, mixing the powder into food directly, and discarding the capsules is fine.
Tips for dogs who hate pills.
We have a couple of ideas to share about how to administer pills to your dog. Hopefully one of these will help.
First, it's important to be in the right mindset, in order to avoid tipping your dog off. Dogs are extremely conscious of our body language, and we often communicate to them our next steps without realizing it. So, one big tip is to think about something else while you are getting the pills out. Preferably something you love or your dog loves. For example, if your dog adores chasing balls, start thinking about going out for a game BEFORE you head to the kitchen. We aren't claiming that your dog can "read your mind," but it does seem as if they pick up on subtle cues and associations easily.
So, if you think about something else while you are preparing the food/pills, it can help the dog relax and anticipate good things, rather than dreadful icky pills.
Some dogs who don't like pills don't mind them when wrapped in irresistible substances like peanut butter, cream cheese, their regular food, cheese, or pill pockets (the little treats that are hollowed out, and you just insert the pill and then squish the treat back together, completely encapsulating the pill).
If you've already tried treats like that, and your dog is still suspicious, you can open the Apocaps® CX capsules and dump the powder into a small amount of food and give it to your dog in powder form. (The capsule is used to dose the powder; it's not integral to the way the powder works.)
MOST dogs do not object to the taste of the powder, but of course all dogs have their own likes and dislikes.
Usually, this takes care of the pill problem. Just open up the capsules (they just pull apart), and empty the capsules into food, and discard the empty capsules.
Since Apocaps® CX is best given with a small amount of food to buffer the stomach, on an empty stomach between meals, this usually works out great for dogs who don't like pills.
Which dogs should not use Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE
Most dogs tolerate Apocaps® really well, but obviously, if your dog is allergic to individual ingredients in Apocaps® (CX or CXE), or if he or she has an allergic reaction to Apocaps®, avoid or discontinue use.
If your dog is allergic to gelatin, empty the powder from the capsule into a small amount of food, discarding the capsule.
Dogs actively experiencing vomiting or diarrhea should not be given Apocaps®, because anything given by mouth (any food, medication, or supplement) could possibly cause further stomach irritation. Discontinue use until the problem has resolved, and then start Apocaps® back up.
Adult dogs less than 5 pounds should not use Apocaps® capsules at this strength, although your veterinarian might want you to use it by opening capsules and using part of the powder inside. Read the dosing recommendation for dogs under five pounds here.
Safety has not been established for use in pregnant, nursing or breeding dogs. Consult with your veterinarian before any change to your dog’s health care.
Using Apocaps CX with other treatments, medications, and supplements
You can almost always use Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE with other treatments, medications, and supplements, and your veterinarian will be able to advise you about your dog's specific case.
- Apocaps® CX is extremely safe, with fewer than 5% of dogs experiencing mild GI side effects like nausea, diarrhea, or vomiting. (That’s a typical rate for any change in diet, medication, or supplement.) The most common reported side effect is loose stool, which clears up with a reduced dose and gradually increasing to a full dose over time.
- In other words, Apocaps is tolerated by the vast majority of dogs right from the get go. For the very few dogs who experience stomach upset at first, it's almost always loose stools, although more rarely, it's diarrhea, vomiting, or nausea. In these cases, Apocaps is tolerated if the dose is reduced and gradually increased over time.
In general, veterinarians feel very comfortable using Apocaps® CX with other treatments, due to its great safety record.
Apocaps may have a mild anti-inflammatory effect in some dogs, so if your dog is on a separate pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory (NSAID or steroid), it's a good idea to reduce the dose to half or a quarter of the labeled dose.
Otherwise, Apocaps® CX is an excellent candidate for synergistic use!
Using Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE with prednisone or other anti-inflammatory prescription medications
In general, with a little caution and, of course, under your veterinarian's supervision, Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE can be used alongside prednisone, NSAIDs, or other anti-inflammatories.
The reason for caution is simple: prescription anti-inflammatories are hard on the tummy. Apocaps won't "interfere" with these prescriptions, but adding it to the mix might increase the risk of tummy upset in your pup.
Apocaps® CX may have a mild anti-inflammatory effect in some dogs, so many veterinarians use a reduced dose, to decrease the possibility of upset tummy (like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea). In general, we recommend reducing the dose of Apocaps® CX to a half or quarter dose if you are using prednisone or any NSAIDs.
For instance, if your dog is supposed to get three pills three times daily, you might give two pills in the morning, and two in the evening.
We also recommend giving Apocaps® CX with a full meal in these cases, to buffer the stomach.
Your veterinarian may prefer to lower the dose of the prescription, and use Apocaps at full labeled dose, but that decision is made on a case-by-case basis, and your veterinarian needs to be in charge of it. Never change your dog's medication doses without checking with your veterinarian!
Can I use Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE with artemisinin?
Yes, but not at the same time. Please see the Apocaps CX Instructions & FAQ here. Most of your questions will be answered on this handout, and it's easy to print out at home. You can use the same instructions for Apocaps CXE.
Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE and surgery
Considerations for using Apocaps® CX before surgery are the same as recommendations for using fish oil: it’s at the veterinarian’s discretion. The most cautious veterinarians may suggest stopping Apocaps® CX three days prior to surgery, and then resuming once healing from the surgery is complete.
Are Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE an antioxidant?
No. The apoptogens in Apocaps® CX are dosed at potent levels, which allows for a pro-oxidant effect. While beta-glucans are included for a little immune support, overall, Apocaps® CX is not considered an antioxidant.
Can I give more Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE than is listed on the label? Will I overdose my dog?
The levels of dietary apoptogens in Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE are carefully dosed to be appropriate by body weight. Veterinarians very rarely want you to up the dose, because this supplement offers the right level of benefit at the labeled dose. Please do not give more than the labeled dose without checking with your own veterinarian. Usually, they will want to stick with the labeled dose, which has been calculated to be helpful!
Also, please see the information on "duplicating ingredients" for more information on double-dosing or over-dosing.
Giving the ingredients in Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE separately
Dogs already being given standalone supplements listed on the label are probably not receiving the full benefit, because bioavailability is almost always a problem with dietary apoptogens. (That’s why we formulate with Biovadex™.) Most veterinarians recommend using Apocaps® CX (or Apocaps CXE in Canada) instead of standalone supplements because of its more potent blend and the excellent synergy among the included apoptogens.
Using Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE with other supplements that have the same ingredients -- dosing questions
The exact amounts of the ingredients in our formula are proprietary, but even if they weren't, knowing the exact amounts wouldn't help you know how much overlap there is between Apocaps® CX and the ingredients given as separate supplements.
This is because the synergy among all of the dietary apoptogens (especially the citrus bioflavonoids we use, which are both expensive and rare and not found in the vast majority of supplements) seems to make the formula "more than the sum of its parts." Also, the way we formulate Apocaps® CX helps to increase absorption, and makes it more potent than most standalone supplements.
Apocaps® CX is carefully constructed to be complete on its own, and no duplicating supplements are needed.
This is why most veterinarians will simply stop giving other supplements with these ingredients, because the more potent and bioavailable formula in Apocaps® CX is usually better and more supportive than giving each one separately. In other words, if you gave each ingredient separately in the doses found in our formula, you probably wouldn't have the same benefits as giving Apocaps, because the formula enhances the ingredients and helps them absorb.
Some people like using separate supplements that contain the same ingredients as Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE, either because they are already used to doing so or because they think they are saving money. While we understand why you might suspect this, it just isn't true. This formula is carefully constructed and formulated so that it is impossible to really duplicate it in your home kitchen.
Regardless of why you want to duplicate Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE by using other supplements that overlap in ingredients, we respectfully ask that you do not use Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE if you are also using other supplements that contain the same ingredients. Doing so could potentially over-dose your loved pup.
This is the same reason we ask that you do not give your dog more Apocaps CX than is listed on the label by weight.
Natural, herbal products are not "always safe at any dose," as any pharmacist will tell you, so please either consult with your veterinarian about this and all other supplement use.
Are Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE medicinal mushroom blends?
No, Apocaps® CX and Apocaps CXE are not medicinal mushroom blends.
Apocaps® is a blend of dietary apoptogens, including citrus bioflavonoids, silymarin, curcumin, rutin, and gingerols, with a small amount of beta-glucans from mushrooms added, along with other supportive ingredients. Apocaps® is designed to support the body's normal levels of apoptosis, and offers pro-oxidant support.
On the other hand, medicinal mushroom supplements like K9 Immunity, I'm Yunity, or any other blend/brand of mushrooms, usually don't contain any dietary apoptogens, and their levels of beta glucans are much higher. The purpose of a mushroom blend is usually immune support and anti-oxidant support.
There is no conflict in using them alongside each other, and Apocaps® was created with the use of a separate mushroom supplement in mind. It's best to give them at separate times, because their pro-oxidant/antioxidant effects conflict -- but typically this is not a problem, because Apocaps® is given between meals, and mushrooms with meals.
If my dog is on antioxidants, can I still use Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE?
Yes, you can give Apocaps® to your dog if she is on antioxidants, just give them at separate times of day, ideally a minimum of three hours apart. Often antioxidants are given with meals, so time your Apocaps® CX doses between meals on an empty stomach or with a very small amount of food for best effects.
Why do I have to use so many pills, and why are your doses so high?
When we formulated Apocaps® CX and Apocaps CXE, we had to take into account that dogs of all sizes would be using it. That's why we use the tiniest capsules available -- size 00 -- so that dogs as small as 5 pounds can take Apocaps. Dogs that small only need two capsules per day, one taken in the morning, and one in the evening. If we used a larger capsule, small and medium size dogs would not be able to take the supplement.
We understand that if your dog is large, and needs nine capsules a day, it can seem like "too much." However, it's not too much. Three small capsules per dose is easier for many dogs to take than one large capsule. So this solution works out for large dogs, too!
One of the reasons we generally need to give dogs larger doses of supplements as compared to humans is because they have much shorter intestinal tracts than we do. We need to "hit them with a big dose" in order to make sure the ingredients make it into their blood stream.
Can I buy Apocaps CX in bulk?
While a bottle of 90 capsules is a month's supply for the average sized dog, we do understand that for big dogs, Apocaps® CX and Apocaps CXE can be more expensive. That's why we have a "big dog compassion program" where we allow people to purchase Apocaps in bulk.
If this sounds interesting to you, please call to get more details, toll-free: 888-936-4226.
The Apocaps pill is just too big for my dog.
No problem! Just open the Apocaps® CX or Apocaps CXE capsules and dump the powder into a small amount of food, and give it to your dog in powder form. (The capsule is used to dose the powder; it's not integral to the way the powder works.)
Are peanut hulls used in Apocaps?
No, peanut hulls are not used in Apocaps® CX, Apocaps CXE, or any other product we make. They were in an earlier formulation, but now we extract bioflavonoids from sweet oranges, instead. There are no peanut products or peanut extracts in any Functional Nutriments product.
Are there dyes or artificial colors used in Apocaps?
No, there are not. We use plain gelatin capsules, and there are no artificial colors or dyes used in any Functional Nutriments products.
Why do you use magnesium stearate?
Magnesium stearate was chosen deliberately and with intention, because it is the form of magnesium that works best in our formula. Apocaps® CX is not a collection of "nice to haves," it's a blend of ingredients that are chosen for specific reasons, and for specific functions. The choice of which form of every ingredient is based on what makes the whole work best. It's very thoughtfully put together, and each ingredient is essentially doing double-or-triple duty in terms of both benefit and bioavailability. Magnesium stearate is part of our Biovadex(TM) technology, and helps the body to better absorb the much more important, dietary apoptogens.
Why do you use this form of vitamin C?
Similar to magnesium stearate, the form of vitamin C we include was chosen deliberately and with intention, because it works best in our formula. The vitamin C is part of our Biovadex(TM) technology, and helps the body to better absorb the much more important, dietary apoptogens.
How can I find out the amount of each ingredient in your proprietary blend?
We don't reveal the individual amounts of each ingredient, because pet supplements are a competitive business, and we don't want to give our formula away. We're kind of like Coca Cola, that way :-)
Let us explain our reasons thoroughly:
Usually, when people ask for the amount of each of the ingredients in Apocaps® CX or Apocaps CXE, they are hoping to save money by buying and dosing the separate ingredients. We understand this, because it's true that Apocaps® can cost more on its own than if you purchased some of the more common ingredients separately. (Although there are a couple of ingredients that are just as expensive.)
Other times when people ask this question, they are asking because they are in a state of "I need to do everything possible for my dog, so I will give everything in Apocaps separately as well, and also every other supplement I've read about, too."
Whatever the case may be, knowing the individual amounts of each ingredient wouldn't accomplish your goal.
That's because giving the separate apoptogens on their own, even if you exactly duplicated the amounts we use, would not have the same benefit as giving Apocaps® itself.
Apocaps® is not just a collection of ingredients -- it's formulated for enhanced bioavailability, and so it seems to be "more than the sum of its parts."
With our roots in veterinary medicine, we actually have used separate supplements, trying to build bioavailability in the home kitchen. The reason Apocaps® CX even exists is because it became clear that in order to really make these dietary apoptogens bioavailable, we had to figure out how to trick the digestive system into letting them through into the bloodstream. And that just wasn't easy to do at home.
One of the reasons Apocaps® CX costs more than separate supplements is because some of the included dietary apoptogens are rare or hard to source. Another is that it is formulated in such a way that it combines them for bioavailability. Most supplements cost pennies to make, but not Apocaps® CX.
Giving the ingredients separately would not give the same benefit as giving them altogether in Apocaps' formulation. Apocaps® CX was designed to make it both more convenient and safer for you to give these ingredients to your dog. Since it takes over four years of advanced study to become a pharmacist, we decided to bring in the experts and make a supplement that works, rather than expecting people to master being a "home-based pharmacist."
If you are thinking about trying to "boost" Apocaps by giving additional doses of separate supplements, please keep in mind that giving more of a good thing does not mean that you are helping. Dosing matters, and sometimes, less is more. As a company intimately involved in supporting health, we are concerned about what we see as a rampant culture of using "natural supplements because they are safe," without understanding the potential pitfalls and dangers of using too much, or bad combinations.
That's why we rely on not just our chief medical officer's formulation, but the input of a whole team of scientists, nutritionists, and pharmacists to make our formulations.
We respectfully ask that if you want to give the separate ingredients of Apocaps® CX to your dog, either to save money or because you have a different strategy and don't want to "just use Apocaps," please do not buy or use Apocaps® CX for your dog. It's carefully constructed to be complete and perfect for supporting normal apoptosis on its own, and duplicating the formulation or double-dosing the individual ingredients is not recommended and should be avoided.
Why is the bottle larger than I think is necessary?
When you open a bottle of Apocaps® CX or Apocaps CXE there should be 90 capsules inside. The size of the bottle is appropriate for shipping and self-storage, and the bottle is packed to make sure that the capsules are as safe as possible as they are warehoused, shipped, and stored in your home.
My veterinarian doesn't approve of or has never heard of or used Apocaps® CX or Apocaps CXE
We're sorry to hear that. After nearly a decade of use, more and more veterinarians are at least familiar with Apocaps® CX, although some have never used it personally.
With "outside the box" strategies, some veterinarians just need a client to assure them that they want to try it. As long as you are working with your veterinarian, many of them will take a "as long as it doesn't hurt, I guess it's worth a try" attitude. Vets usually start recommending Apocaps® to other clients after they see its benefits in one dog.
If that doesn't seem to apply to you, you might want to get a second opinion. You can ask your veterinarian for a referral, or ask your neighbors for their recommendations. Breed clubs or the local dog trainer might also have good referrals. You can also find veterinarians on their trade websites by entering your zip code:

What trials have been run on Apocaps?
Dr. Dressler conducted a pilot trial in concert with other veterinarians long before 2010, when Apocaps® CX was first brought to market. That pilot trial was focused on safety and ease of use, and it was a great success, which is why we launched Apocaps® CX after its conclusion. Since 2010, Apocaps® CX has been used around the world, over 3 million doses have been given, and there are many veterinarians using it.
The science behind Apocaps has also been vetted by the National Institutes of Health in Washington, DC. In 2010, Functional Nutriments was awarded a grant in the amount of a quarter million dollars to “Develop Cancer Chemosensitizer & Radiosensitizer Using Bioavailable Dietary Apoptogens.” This exciting development early in our company’s history forced us to make an important decision: did we want to stay on the nutraceutical path, or become a pharmaceutical company and develop synthetic versions of our dietary apoptogens? After much soul-searching, we committed to the nutraceutical version, and we’re glad we did – even if it meant giving up that prestigious and lucrative grant.
Can I use Apocaps with my cat?
Our products are designed for dogs, not for cats, so we caution about their use in felines due to possible gastro-intestinal problems. Dogs and cats are very different physiologically.
We recommend you contact your veterinarian and find out what they recommend for use in your cat's specific case.
Can I get Apocaps in Canada?
Apocaps CX or Apocaps CXE?
Apocaps Instead of EverPup or Nutrocept?
Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE feature relatively high levels of dietary apoptogens, and are intended to be used with a veterinarian's supervision. EverPup and Nutrocept do not replace Apocaps.
If you are looking for a "daily" version of Apocaps you can use in dogs of all ages, EverPup is a solid overall supplement that includes dietary apoptogens. EverPup was specifically formulated by Dr. Demian Dressler in response to the most frequently asked question he got: “How do I keep my healthy dog healthy?” It contains some of the same dietary apoptogens as Apocaps, but at doses that are suitable for daily use in dogs of all ages. You could also get Nutrocept, the veterinary brand of EverPup, from your veterinarian.
EverPup (and Nutrocept) can also be used at the same time as Apocaps. The ingredients overlap, but they are formulated to be used either alone or together.

EverPup
Getting Started with EverPup
Bottom of the Jar Taste Guarantee!
Dogs love EverPup, and it's great for them, too. Of course, its benefits build up over time, and the longer you use it, the more your dog will benefit.
We know if you give your dog EverPup for a month, you'll start to see lovely vitality building. To get you to try it for that long, we offer our Bottom of the Jar Taste Guarantee.
Try EverPup with your dog, and if he or she doesn't love it, send it back to us for a full refund. We will refund you even if you don't buy it from us.
There's zero risk on your part: try EverPup today, and if it doesn't work out, send it back -- even if the jar is open! Even if it's EMPTY!
How much EverPup does my dog need?
For most dogs, 1 scoop of EverPup is a day's dose. That means every jar of EverPup has a thirty day supply.
For dogs under 15 pounds, we recommend 1/2 scoop, which means every jar of EverPup is a sixty day supply for little dogs. However, some people give a full scoop to older dogs in this weight group, because older dogs can benefit from the extra support of a little more EverPup.
Similarly, dogs over 80 pounds might benefit from more than one scoop of EverPup a day. If your dog is over 80 pounds, and particularly if he or she is older, you can give up to two scoops of EverPup per day.
My dog just ate more EverPup than he was supposed to!
We're glad to hear your dog likes EverPup enough to want so much of it!
Don't worry, the doses in EverPup are supplemental, so they are very low, about 1/10th the apoptogen doses in Apocaps CX and CXE. It's designed to just boost the dog's normal systems enough to support their normal, natural, healthy, vigorous healthy selves.
Eating more EverPup than a day's dose is harmless for most dogs. We've had customers tell us about dogs prying open brand new jars, eating through the safety seal, and consuming the entire jar -- a month's worth -- with no adverse effects.
While it's a rather expensive snack, it's not going to harm your dog.
Of course, if you notice any problems at all with your dog, please contact your veterinarian right away and get their advice.
My dog doesn't seem to love the taste of EverPup :-(
Oh, that's too bad! Most dogs really like EverPup and take to it immediately. EverPup is made with such quality ingredients and addresses so many areas of health, that we really want your dogs to have every chance to enjoy this new addition to the diet. We have lots of ideas about things to try.
First, keep in mind that some dogs are just plain suspicious of new tastes. When a dog really loves their food already, to suddenly sprinkle something different changes the smell and the taste. Here are some tips to use to offer your dog the option of enjoying EverPup. In the vast majority of cases, one of these will help!
- Start with a tiny amount of EverPup at first, and work up to their recommended daily dose over the course of days or even weeks. Sometimes they just need to gradually be introduced to the new flavor.
- Try using EverPup on just a small section of the food, in the same bowl. You can try this using EverPup as a dry sprinkle or as a broth drizzled on the food.
- Mix EverPup with a little water to make a broth and put it in a bowl or saucer next to the food bowl.
- Associate EverPup with their favorite treat! First, offer the treat, then offer EverPup powder (many dogs will lick it off your hand!), then offer another of their favorite treats.
- If the dog ever gets something irresistible like a chicken broth, mix a small amount of EverPup into it, and give a tiny taste first. They'll usually go through it easily and associate the little change with their special treat.
You may want to try some of the above and see if your dog will get the taste for it. Almost without exception, they do.
Can I use EverPup with a prescription anti-inflammatory or NSAID?
In general, EverPup is safe to be used with any other supplement or medication, including anti-inflammatories or NSAIDs.
Can I use EverPup with my cat?
Our products are designed for dogs, not for cats, so we caution about their use in felines due to possible gastro-intestinal problems. (Dogs and cats are very different physiologically.)
We recommend you contact your veterinarian and find out what they recommend for use in your cat's specific case.
Can I use EverPup in place of Apocaps?
No, because they are not the same product. Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE feature relatively high levels of dietary apoptogens, and are intended to be used with a veterinarian's supervision.
If you want to support your dog with a solid overall supplement that includes dietary apoptogens, we suggest EverPup. EverPup was specifically formulated by Dr. Demian Dressler in response to the most frequently asked question he got: “How do I keep my healthy dog healthy?” It contains some of the same dietary apoptogens as Apocaps, but at doses that are suitable for daily use in dogs of all ages.

Using EverPup and Apocaps at the same time
EverPup can be used at the same time as Apocaps. The ingredients overlap, but they are formulated to be used either alone or together.
How long to use EverPup
EverPup is designed to be used in dogs of all ages from puppyhood right up through senior age. It is carefully formulated to be appropriate for daily use throughout the lifespan, to support the body's normal health as our dogs age. It has been used continuously in dogs for several years with great satisfaction -- particularly because it can replace so many other supplements, and is so safe to use with other supplements or medications.
As dogs get older (seven years of age or more), they might benefit from a little bit more EverPup than the recommended dose on the label. You can double the dose for your dog after the age of seven.
Larger dogs will also benefit from a larger dose, even under the age of seven. Dogs over 80 pounds can use up to 2 scoops of EverPup every day from puppyhood through senior years.
Jar is too big for amount of powder inside
EverPup is sold by weight, and the jar holds a full month’s supply (180 grams) of the fluffy powder. That's 30 servings of 6 grams each.
However, because the motion of shipping can cause the very fine powder to settle, you might find that the powder has compacted by the time it reaches you. We promise you that when the powder goes in the jar, it's full!
If it feels like you are going through EverPup quickly, this is likely the reason. You can either use a kitchen scale to measure your 6 grams, or you can fill your scoop a little lower than the fill line.
We guarantee that every jar of EverPup contains 180 grams of EverPup by weight, which is a thirty day supply for most dogs. In fact, we in customer service take our own jars of EverPup, weigh them, then empty the powder and weigh the jar separately, to make sure that the powder alone weighs 180 grams. We've never yet had a jar come up short.
Are the ingredients in EverPup organic?
Not all the ingredients in EverPup are organic so that is why we cannot label it as "organic."
That said, please note that we manufacture to human nutraceutical standards, NOT pet supplement standards.
That means all the ingredients are 100%-human grade and it is manufactured in a human-grade nutraceutical facility in the US which is registered and regularly inspected by the FDA.
All the ingredients are not only human-grade, but they are sourced from trusted and ethical sources. Every ingredient is checked checked before, during, and after production for safety using the highest standards. This is one of the many things that distinguish EverPup from most other dog supplements. You can read more about our safety standards here.
Is EverPup a preventative?
EverPup is designed to support the dog's natural, thriving, vitality. It supports every system and organ in the body, at the cellular level. Unfortunately, just like for us, there are no substances, foods, or supplements that can definitely "prevent" any problems from developing, because there are so many potential factors involved!
One of the things you want to keep in mind in terms of increasing the odds of a long healthy life is good nutrition. EverPup can boost your dog's nutrition, but it can't replace a healthy diet!
That said, EverPup was specifically formulated by Dr. Demian Dressler in response to the most frequently asked question he got: “How do I keep my healthy dog healthy?” It's a fantastic all-in-one supplement that many of us have used for years to support our pups health and happiness.
Can I get EverPup in Canada?
We are not shipping EverPup directly to Canada at the moment, but there are some retailers who do carry it in your country. If that doesn't work, if you have a US address, you can place an order and ship to that address.
We know how inconvenient it is to our Canadian customers not to be able to get our products locally, and we are actively looking for a distributor to pick up our line for import. If you have any recommendations, please pass them on.

General Product Questions
Why don't you make more different kind of supplements?
We often hear this question from retailers and veterinarians who recognize the quality of our products and the thoughtful way in which they are made. They wish we would "offer more options" to our customers.
The simple answer to why we don't make more different kinds of supplements is this: we don't need to. Our products speak for themselves.
One of the reasons we obsess about dietary apoptogens is because they offer such a wide range of support. When a single food-based supplement can support three, four, or five organs in the body, it offers a lot of leverage.
EverPup and Nutrocept, our daily supplements, offers what a dog needs on a daily basis throughout life, from vitamins to minerals to apoptogens, joint support, and digestive support.
When you have one product that supports the body from nose to tail, why do more products for specific systems? Wouldn't that be, best case, redundant, and worse case, kinda sketchy?
We're not going to pretend that it wouldn't be nice to "build out our line" and "add more SKU's." And we do have more ideas in the pipeline.
But the reality is, we're not in the business of making lots of different supplements ... we're in the business of making the BEST supplements. And to do that, we find it's best to remain focused. On dietary apoptogens.
When do products expire?
Because we manufacture to human nutraceutical standards, not pet supplement standards, every bottle, every jar, and every box has the lot number and expiration date stamped on the outside.
In general, we manufacture in small batches to ensure products are as fresh as possible. All of our products are shelf stable for up to three years from manufacture, but we set the expiration date for two years from manufacture to account for shipping and storage.
How do I store these supplements?
None of our products need refrigeration or any special storage, although excessive heat is not a good idea in general for supplements of any kind.
Where are your supplements manufactured?
All of our products are proudly made and manufactured in the USA.
Are all ingredients from the USA?
Most of our ingredients are sourced in the U.S., but a few of the esoteric ingredients simply are not available here, because they come from other traditions. In any case, all ingredients are tested to be what they say they are, and safe, because we manufacture to human nutraceutical standards, not pet supplement standards.
Are your products labeled organic?
Most of our ingredients are sourced in the U.S., but a few of the esoteric ingredients simply are not available here, because they come from other traditions. In any case, all ingredients are tested to be what they say they are, and safe.
In general, organic ingredients are desirable, of course, but not always totally possible. Keep in mind that we use extracts of botanicals to boost their potency.
It's also important to know that each batch of ingredients undergoes many safety tests before it is used. Pesticides and herbicides are among the many contaminants we test for before an ingredient is used.
Any raw ingredient that has residue is not used. These tests are required by the FDA for human nutraceutical manufacturing. They are routine and done for every raw ingredient, and every batch of Apocaps® (and all of our other products).
How do you know there's no pesticide residue in your products if they are not organic?
Because we test for this. We test every batch of every ingredient, before it's used. Any raw ingredient that has residue is just not used. These tests are required by the FDA for human nutraceutical manufacturing. They are routine and done for every raw ingredient, and every batch of Apocaps® (and all of our other products).
My veterinarian doesn't believe in supplements
We are really sorry to hear that. It might be helpful to know that our chief medical officer, Dr. Demian Dressler, was once a skeptical veterinarian with a thoroughly conventional mindset, too. What changed his mind was simple: research.
We invite your veterinarian to visit our veterinary information portal, where they can review the white paper on dietary apoptogens, see links to the original literature that forms the basis for our formulas, take courses, and hear what other veterinarians think. They can register using their veterinary license at http://FunctionalNutriments.com/vet And if you are looking for a second opinion, you can find holistic veterinarians through their Find a Vet feature on their trade website: http://AHVMA.org.
And many veterinary oncologists use our products. You can find one in your area through their trade website: http://ACVIM.org.
What if I notice a problem with a bottle?
We manufacture to human nutraceutical standards, not pet supplement standards, so there are several safety features on our bottles.
Please check to see if the tamper-evident seal around the neck of the bottle is intact when you get your bottle of Apocaps.
Also, check to see if the safety seal on the top of the uncapped bottle is present. That seal should be tight and completely closed around the entire neck of the bottle.
Also, check to make sure that your bottle is stamped with a Lot Number and an expiration date.
There should be 90 capsules in your bottle of Apocaps CX and Apocaps CXE. There should be 180 grams of powder in your jar of EverPup and Nutrocept.
If anything seems awry, please call us at 888-936-4226 and let us know. Depending upon where you purchased your bottle, we will instruct you as to how to proceed.
Have you ever had a product recall, and how would I know if you had one?
No, we have never had a product recall. We manufacture to human nutraceutical standards, which means that every batch of ingredients, and each batch of each product, goes through thorough testing before, during, and after manufacturing. When a new lot leaves our manufacturing facility, we are confident it is safe and consistent.
If we ever needed to do a recall, we would go through the same process that any other human-grade nutraceutical would, according to the law. We would use the Lot Number and Expiration Date associated with the problematic batch to recall the product. We would notify every retailer, veterinarian, or customer who had bought a bottle from that batch, alert them about the recall, and replace the product.
If you purchase directly from us, you will hear about a recall directly from us. If you purchase via a retailer or veterinarian, we would alert the retailer and work with them to make sure that you know about the recall.
Are there any GMO ingredients?
Lecithin is generally extracted from soybeans, and most soybean crops at this point in the U.S. are genetically modified. However, keep in mind that lecithin is an extract, not made from the entire bean. The individual cells of the plant are opened up to extract the lecithin from inside the cell.
We are continually on the lookout for a non-GMO source of lecithin that doesn't vastly increase the cost our products, but at this point, we have not found one.
Does your lecithin come from soybeans?
Lecithin is generally extracted from soybeans, and most soybean crops grown in the U.S. are genetically modified. However, keep in mind that lecithin is an extract, not made from the entire bean. The individual cells of the plant are opened up to extract the lecithin from inside the cells. If we find a viable, non-GMO source of lecithin in the future, we will use it, but for now the sources would increase the cost so much that most people would be unable to afford Apocaps® or our other products.
After a decade, and millions of dogs around the world using Apocaps, EverPup, and our other supplements, we are confident that it is both safe and helpful.
